As part of global strategy, manufacture and sales for
Chinese market to be boosted

Kaga Components Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 2-2-9, Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yukio Takashi), a consolidated subsidiary of Kaga Electronics Co., Ltd., in January of this year began selling a line-up of projectors (http://www.taxan-projector.com) adopting the DLP® technology of Texas Instruments Incorporated. As part of the company's strategy for globally boosting its projector business, Kaga Instruments Shantou Co., Ltd. was established in China on February 1 of this year, and in July began full-scale production of projectors for the Chinese domestic market at the production base for the business acquired last year from PLUS Vision Corporation.

On July 3, government officials and Chinese sales partners were invited to the factory of Kaga Instruments Shantou Co., Ltd. for an opening ceremony.

Sales to the Chinese domestic market will centre around the PS Series, which went on sale in Japan in March. The PS Series boasts advanced functionality along with excellent cost performance. With a compact size of 2.9 litres and weighing only 1.8kg, it is the world's smallest projector in the 2500 lumens class. The top model of the three-model line-up supports wireless presentations with its SD wireless LAN card, as well as PC-less operation using its image viewer function. A dustproof model currently being developed will also be manufactured and sold in China as part of the series.

Currently around 60 percent of the projectors sold in China are for the educational market. Aiming primarily at this market, Kaga Components plans to sell a total package that includes, in addition to the projector, a laser pointer, screen and other accessories and office equipment. The company is targeting sales of 15,000 projectors in China during this fiscal year.

Kaga Components, leveraging the trading company functions of the Kaga Electronics Group along with its own EMS capabilities, has devised a product strategy around the concept of offering high performance at a more affordable price. Based on this strategy, the company is gradually expanding its line-up of projectors adopting the DLP? technology of Texas Instruments Incorporated for a competitive edge. In addition to the Chinese market, an expanded sales effort is being aimed at high-growth markets in India and Russia, and the global effort is also being carried over to Europe, where stronger ties are being promoted with local sales and advertising agencies.
