Kaga Components Co., Ltd.
TAXAN PC ScriptWriter Now Available
Combines the Functions of a Wireless Digital Pen and Mouse

Kaga Components Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 2-2-9, Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yukio Takashi; Web site: http://www.taxan-projector.com/), a consolidated subsidiary of Kaga Electronics Co., Ltd. (TSE 1st Section: 8154), today announced the immediate availability of the TAXAN PC ScriptWriter, a digital pen for the Windows (2000/XP/Vista) platform.
The TAXAN PC ScriptWriter looks and feels just like an ordinary pen. It can be used like a pen to draw figures and write characters far more easily than with a mouse, and it allows users to readily incorporate the results as PC data. It has a maximum effective resolution of 900dpi, higher than competing products, together with excellent noise resistance.
The product consists of the wireless digital pen and a receiver unit that detects pen position data and sends this to the PC over a USB connection. Figures and characters produced with the pen can be converted to digital data, which can then be saved and managed as files or sent as email attachments. The pen has the ability to also function as a mouse, and can perform the same click and drag operations as any ordinary mouse.
Handwriting functionality in PC input devices has been attracting growing attention recently; in fact, Windows Vista (Home Premium or above) now comes standard with handwriting recognition ability. In the education field meanwhile, studies have demonstrated that students learn more efficiently when using a PC and a handwriting input device. In our efforts to cultivate new markets, we plan to continue expanding our development of products featuring handwriting functions, and to devote development resources not only to projectors but also to peripheral devices in general.
